We find it important to show that our role as a sustainable investor comes with responsibilities, and we report transparently on what we do. We also frequently join sector-wide initiatives to increase our impact where possible. Below is a list of the agreements and initiatives we have endorsed. Financial Sector Initiatives

  • Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF)
    A group of financial institutions that have agreed to collaborate on the joint development of open-source methodologies to measure the carbon footprint of their investments and loans.
  • Partnership for Biodiversity Accounting Financials (PBAF)
    An industry-led partnership facilitating the financial industry in transparently assessing and disclosing their impact and dependency on biodiversity.
  • The Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM)
    An initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, or earlier, with a clear intermediate target for 2030.
  • Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC)
    A European membership body for investor collaboration on climate change, representing the voice of investors advocating for a prosperous, low-carbon future.
  • Netherlands Advisory Board on Impact Investing (NAB)
    Aims to accelerate the growth and improve the effectiveness of the impact investing market by raising awareness, addressing barriers, and increasing confidence in investing with impact.
  • Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO)
    An association of institutional and private investors and NGOs working to contribute to the sustainable development of the capital market through engagement with Dutch listed companies, research, and organizing events such as round tables and seminars.
  • Eumedion: A membership organization that represents the interests of institutional investors in corporate governance and sustainability, promoting good governance and sustainability policies at Dutch listed companies while encouraging engaged and responsible shareholding among its members.
  • Dutch Association of Insurers (het Verbond)
    A sector organization that represents its members' interests and connects them with societal needs. Members in boards, committees, and working groups collectively determine the association's positions. AVB participates in various initiatives, including the CDFB and the IMVO 2.0 expert group (a follow-up from the Agreement on International Responsible Investment in the Insurance Sector).
  • Dutch Fund and Asset Management Association (DUFAS)
    An industry association for asset managers aimed at raising awareness of the social relevance of investing.
  • Sustainable Finance Platform of De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB)
    A partnership among the Dutch financial sector, government, and supervisory authorities focused on promoting sustainable finance in the Netherlands.
  • Finance for Biodiversity Foundation 
    In 2023, 170 financial institutions signed the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge, calling on global leaders and committing to protect and restore biodiversity through their financial activities.
  • Access to Medicine Foundation
    This foundation stimulates and guides pharmaceutical companies to contribute more to the welfare of people living in low- and middle-income countries.

8.2. Collaborative Engagement Initiatives

  • Climate Action 100+
    An investor initiative to ensure the world’s largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters take necessary actions on climate change.
  • Nature Action 100+
    An investor initiative focused on driving greater corporate ambition and action to reverse nature and biodiversity loss.
  • The Dutch Climate Coalition (DCC)
    A group of Dutch institutional investors supporting the objectives of the investor collaboration network of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) and the Climate Action 100+ (CA100+) engagement initiative.
  • The Platform Living Wage Financials (PLWF)
    An alliance of financial institutions that encourages and monitors investee companies to address the non-payment of living wages in global supply chains in the garment and food & retail industries.
  • FAIRR
    Established to equip investors with better understanding of ESG risks and opportunities in the food sector, focusing on the interconnected issues associated with intensive animal production.
  • Valuing Water Finance Initiative
    A global investor-led effort to engage corporate water users and polluters to value and act on water as a financial risk, driving the necessary large-scale change to better protect water systems.
  • Health Engagement Initiative (HEAL)
    An engagement program focused on healthy and nutritious food, targeting companies in the out-of-home sector.
  • Deforestation Monitoring
    An engagement program utilizing innovative data-gathering methods through satellites to assist dialogues on deforestation.
