Chief Executive Officer a.s.r. asset management, Jack Julicher, will hand over his tasks and responsibilities to his colleague Patrick Klijnsmit on 1 April. Patrick has held various roles at a.s.r. since September 1999. For the past few weeks, Patrick has been accompanying Jack to ensure a smooth transition and to be prepared for his new role.
In January 2022, it was announced that Patrick Klijnsmit would be the intended successor to Jack Julicher, who had indicated his intention to retire in the course of 2023. Jack Julicher has been director of a.s.r. asset management at a.s.r. since 2003. On 1 April, he will have completed 27 years of service and will hand over his duties and responsibilities to Patrick, who has been working on the implementation of the new international accounting standard IFRS17/9 in recent months.
Patrick Klijnsmit joined the mortgage business of Stad Rotterdam Verzekeringen in 1999, after completing studies in economics and tax economics and his training to become a chartered accountant. During his first years at a.s.r., he was working on his doctoral thesis, on which he received his PhD in 2001. A few months after Patrick started at the banking and mortgages project office, he became branch controller banking and mortgages, after which he served as CFO asset management, among other positions, between 2002 and 2010.
Jos Baeten, CEO of a.s.r.: ‘Jack has worked for a.s.r. for 27 years, 20 of which he led our asset management business. He is an authority in his field of expertise and a.s.r. is grateful for his insight and commitment in all these years. Under his leadership, the company tapped into new growth markets, expanded its focus on third-party asset management and set sharp ambitions on sustainability, for which a.s.r. has received much recognition. At the same time, we welcome the arrival of Patrick, who has worked at a.s.r. for quite some time and was also active within the asset management business in crucial years. I have every confidence in Patrick as Jack’s successor.’
