After a disastrous 2022, the new year has started with hope for investors. All asset classes delivered positive returns in January, with equities leading the way. Mainly better-than-expected economic figures and lower interest rates set the tone in the financial markets in January. Lower capital market interest rates translated into positive returns on European government and investment grade corporate bonds. These yielded returns of over 2% in January, while the more risky high-yield corporate bonds performed even better, with a monthly return of over 3%.
